The Shipmaster's Medical Course is the highest marine medical qualification available. To be eligible to enter you must have completed the First Aid at Sea course within the last 4 years.
The STCW 95 Shipmasters Medical course (also known as Proficiency in Medical Care Onboard Ship) is an advanced first aid certificate building on the material covered on the First Aid at Sea course. The course concentrates on providing medical assessment and treatment for patients onboard and is required for certain masters’ sea qualifications and for those with an interest in improving their first aid and medical knowledge.
40 hours over 5 working days.
A current First Aid at Sea qualification (completed within the last 4 years).
STCW 95 Shipmasters Medical (STCW 95 – A-VI/4-2)
4 years from date of issue, depending on the country’s requirements that you are working in.
