This course is designed to teach race/event officials the skills needed to manage a casualty on the water during a race or event, until they are able to handover to higher medical aid. The course concentrates on the ABCs – must have an airway, must be breathing, must have a pulse and not be bleeding to death. Spinal immobilisation and hypothermia are also taught as part of the course.
This course has been designed to teach you the basic medical skills required to save a life, and to treat a life threatening injury at sea.
